Taking advantage of Miyi’s beautiful topography and riverside location is the new South Lake Recreational Retail Center complete with an equipment rental facility and waterside dining. Connecting the three structures is a casual public gathering space that descends into the water, allowing residents and tourists to immerse their feet in the refreshing and naturally cleansed waters. The massing and materiality of the complex, coupled with the use of locally-sourced stone, evokes images of Miyi’s natural, mountainous terrain.
The large retail sales building is highlighted with a unique, hybrid indoor/outdoor climbing wall with views of the Miyi Landmark Tower to the north. Immediately adjacent to the retail building is a small equipment rental facility with its own integrated boat launch. A small restaurant and café is located at the end of the pier with indoor and outdoor dining where a direct relationship with the water is once again created and accentuated. The views from the café capture the best of both the natural and built structures of Miyi.
